Thorsten Haas is associate Professor of the Department of Anaesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at the Medical University of Innsbruck (since 2001). Dr. Haas studied medicine at the University of Mainz, Germany and is board certified in Anaesthesiology. After two years of work as a resident of Anaesthesiology at the Dr.-Horst-Schmitt-Kliniken in Wiesbaden, Germany he moved to Innsbruck. From 2007-2009, he works as Medical Director in Clinical Research & Development at CSL Behring Marburg, responsible for congenital and acquired coagulation disorder management.

Dr. Haas was board member of the Medical Association of Tirol, Austria for Emergency Medicine and team member of the study group "Perioperative Coagulation Management (Clotwork)" at the Medical University of Innsbruck. Since 2010 he was board member of the working group on Perioperative Coagulation of the ÖGARI. He has (co) authored over 20 articles in peer-reviewed journals. His clinical and research interests include perioperative coagulation management, impairment of haemostasis in childhood, basic animal research of pathophysiologic changes in haemostasis, and emergency medicine.
